Black Friday Mayhem!

So, Black Friday is right around the corner, and I know I'm dying to find ways on how to save money. Here are some tips that can ultimately save you time and money during the Friday mayhem!
1: Make up a list of the top things that you absolutely have to buy. instead of wasting time browsing around, get right to the point and grab what you went to the store to get!

2: Do most of your research on items at home rather than in store. This gives you less pressure when actually buying the item, and you feel relaxed and at ease.

3: Go online often to check for different deals and steals before you head out into the 'war zone' of shopping malls.

4: After purchasing an item be sure to KEEP THE RECEIPT! Yes, it is a pain trying to find a good spot for all your shopping receipts, but once you get your item home, and you see that the rice drops, you can bring your receipt in and receive the difference. Not so dumb now?

5: Lastly, if you couldn't find exactly what you wanted at the right price, you can always wait a few days and go to the auction sites. Sites like E-bay and Craigslist are great to find what you are looking for at a low price.

I want you to decide which store do you think will be the most popular this Black Friday season. Cast your vote!

To Eat or Not To Eat?

Tis' the season to be FAT! with the next big holiday for family gatherings, lots of wine, and of course FOOD! Thanksgiving is right around the corner, but for those who have been trying to eat healthy all year, Thanksgiving may be your worst nightmare! So for those who do eat healthy, this might be torture. All that great food, great wine, and great people! Soo much temptation is surrounding you. So, instead of being a hermit and avoiding all of that you need to learn how to deal. With portion control and self restrictions, you will get through this Thanksgiving with no problem, and without hurting your lifestyle of healthy living.
Learning how to deal with your grandmother trying to cram junk food and her homemade snacks into your face may be the toughest part of the day. But all is not lost! You can recover. The snacks like crackers and cheese, chips and dip all seem to be the first on the table when the party starts. Before the meal is even done cooking, your already full to the brim with junk. But if you want to stay somewhat healthy, you need to learn when to say NO! No need to waste the room in your stomach on useless calories and carbs! Save room for the food you went to eat. The TURKEY! As said before, portion control is key. Eat small amounts of what you want most. This will curb your appetite and make you feel fulfilled with what you've been waiting and wanting to eat!

Saving Money During this Holiday Season!

We all know that the holidays are right around the corner. With days like Black Friday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas coming up everyone is trying to find different ways to save money so we can spend it later! Some ways to save money during the holiday season can be simple things like:
1:  turning down the thermostat in your home. even just a few degrees can make a big difference in your bill. Each degree below 68°F  during colder weather saves 3%-5% more heating energy!

2: Saving water- Take shorter showers. Now don't go back to the old days where the whole family used the same water in one bucket, but cut down the shower times to about half. Another way to save water is to do laundry less often, and wash more with each load. Also, put an aerator on all household faucets and cut your annual water consumption by 50% lowering your water bill.

3: Replace incandescent light bulbs with energy saving fluorescent bulbs, they not only last longer, but they are better for your home and the environment. Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs use 66% less energy than a standard incandescent bulb and last up to 10 times longer. THAT'S A NO BRAINER!!

By doing some of these simple steps, you will be saving money in no time, and will have more money to spend of all your loved ones during this crazy, hectic season.

What are some of the things you do to save money while being green during the holiday season?

Halloween Tricks or Treats?

Today is Halloween which means costumes, tricks, and of course TREATS! I know its hard to resist all the candy that's literally being given to you at each door. Especially when going out trick our treating with small children, there is bound to be tons of candy in the house at the end of the night! The 'trick' to being healthy even on Halloween is all about portion control. It's okay to nibble on a few of your favorite pieces, but remember to try to eat the candy that is already wrapped in portions. This will make it easier to stay away from all the candy, and you can have a simple portion and feel satisfied.
The worst candy to avoid on Halloween is... CANDY CORN! I know that is a lot of people's favorites but with 140 calories and 28 grams of sugar per 22 piece serving its not really worth it. The amount of sugar candy corn has gives your  body a sugar boost which makes you want more! Sugar is like a drug in ways that it changes the chemicals in your brain causing cravings. STAY AWAY! The best cansy to eat during Halloween is the Three Musketeers Fun-Size Bars. One serving is three bars, with 190 calories, 6 grams of fat, 4 grams saturated fat, and 30 grams of sugar. These will give you the best satisfaction because you get to have more than one, and its also the best in calorie count for the amount you get! THUMBS UP!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
